Is Fiverr Legit or is a Scam?: Let’s Answer This Question

Much has been written about Fiverr in this Blog. We even wrote an Ultimate Guide to Fiverr some time ago. Despite this, many people still ask the same question almost every week: is Fiverr Legit? In this post we will try to give an answer based on the different meanings of the word “legit” 🙂

Is Fiverr Legit?

The key here is what meaning of the word “legit” do you refer to:

  • Is Fiverr an official (and legal) company? Yes, absolutely. They have the headquarters in Israel and several branches in different countries.
  • Do they really pay to Freelancers? Yes. Although there’s a clearance period of 14 days.
  • Are you going to make money on it? Well, that depends

As I said, it all depends on your area of expertise (in which section are you going to offer your GIGs?). If you plan to create GIGs on the following sections, don’t hesitate even for a second. Open an account right now!

  • WordPress
  • Web Design (CMS, E-commerce)
  • Logo Design
  • Illustrations
  • Photoshop Editing
  • Whiteboard/2D/3D Animation (Explainers)
  • Voice Over
  • Articles & Blog Posts

If your work belongs to any of those topics, there’s a big chance that you will get Jobs in Fiverr in no time. The reason is that the demand is so big that even with the current offer of freelancers, you will still be found.

However, if your field is not included in the previous list, you might want to do some investigations first. The reason is that you might end up losing your valuable time by opening an account and creating a GIG, without ever getting a single customer due to the saturation of your niche.

Something I learned during my time in Fiverr, is that the most important “non-technical” skill to possess there is “Patience.”

You will spend many days both waiting for customers and wondering what did you do wrong. By this logic, you must be quite strong mentally to don’t “give up” in the beginning. If your niche is not over-saturated and you work hard, you will succeed at some point.

Conclusion

is Fiverr legit? (is it a real company) Yes, it’s not a scam company, and many Freelancers have made considerable income in the platform.

is Fiverr legit? (can you make money on it) Depends on the topics where you plan to offer your GIGs. See the list above.

Hope this helped you out. Please share your opinions in the comments section! 🙂

Have a nice day!
